One of our many dramatic performances, Gawayne and the Green Knight: A Fairy Tale, made its premier performance on the stage at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Salem on Friday, December 14th, 2018. We provided an evening of wholesome entertainment for families!

Our student performance was an original theatrical adaptation of Charlton Miner Lewis's 1903 poem which itself is based on the medieval chivalric romance by the same name. One of the most famous of the Arthurian legends, this is an inspiring tale of honor, virtue, chivalry, and true love. Our production stayed true to the poetic form which alternates between light humor and profound insights, as indicated by the Preface:

"Arms and the man I sing,—not as of old

The Mantuan bard his mighty verse unrolled,

But in such humbler strains as may beseem

Light changes rung on a fantastic theme.

My tale is ancient, but the sense is new,—

Replete with monstrous fictions, yet half true;—

And, if you'll follow till the story's done,

I promise much instruction, and some fun."
